I’m building Autinaut: an individualist collective of autists, creative neurodivergents, friends and allies.

Working hypothesis: creative neurodivergence is the vanguard of evolution; humanity is harmed by monostate society, absent support mechanisms for alternate neurotypes. The result? An incalculable loss of insight.

In an increasingly unpredictable and divisive world, it is essential that communities are built on collective public goods for mutual benefit. Autinaut is such a community.

Imperative to act.

Autinauts are focused on pushing the boundaries of knowledge and shifting the internal and societal mindstate. By pooling resources and working collaboratively we can resolve the challenging minutiae of daily life to a minimum and reclaim the wasted bandwidth, redirecting our energies on getting the important stuff done: defining and deploying solutions to the problems in which the world is intractably enmeshed. I propose this as a moral imperative for those of us with the ability to act; a resounding call to action with an extensive roadmap in place; ideas ready for us to discuss, define and deploy. Transformatively inspired by the seminal emergence of the late identified community on TikTok, full of passion and dedicated energy but without a cohesive organising principle, I now do the almost impossible: emerge from the oblivion of burnout and make myself fully visible to define my vision for the inception of a powerful and inclusive movement.

A defining idea.

Autinaut derives from the Ancient Greek αὐτός (autós, “self”) and ναύτης (naútēs, “sailor”). As “star sailor” is to astronaut, Autinauts are voyagers of internal mindstates specific to the autistic experience, with the understanding that autism is just a word, the current categorisation: anyone who resonates with the concept of creative neurodivergence and aligns with the core values of the Autinaut community is welcome, identification or diagnosis irrespective.

Firm foundations.

Inspired by the invaluable insight of my extreme personal struggle, the Autinaut Foundation exists to support and uplift the creative neurodivergent community by enacting a trifecta of principles: direct support to individuals; promotion of awareness and understanding; creation of neurofriendly spaces, both digital and physical.

Trifecta #1: Community support.

At point of crisis: bursaries and intervention packages for primarily late-diagnosed creative neurodivergent adults via a simple online application process. Completion of a web form will allow candidates to access immediate and short-term funding. Immediate: hardship grants of up to $1K provided in 72 hours. Short-term: submit a proposal for a creative project in any discipline, resulting (post approval) in an initial $10K bursary (theorised as sufficient for c. 12 months in ‘survival mode’) plus access to a comprehensive support network of medical, therapeutic, legal and financial professionals to advocate for the individual, enabling the resolution of complex societal trauma. In return, the candidate pledges a small percentage of any resultant revenues to the foundation.

Lifetime: Universal Basic Income (UBI). Over time, the compounded investments of the fund are projected to provide all Autinauts with UBI, removing the obligation to mask and function within allistic working environments, postulated to be a major cause of trauma and complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD) within the late-identified community.

Trifecta #2: Awareness and understanding: development of better ideas from the creative neurodivergent perspective.

Exemplar: research funding. Historically, scientific research has been conducted from the outside-in, defining our community by observable phenomena, with resultant harm from misunderstanding the experiential. This is now starting to become an historical anachronism, with community inclusion increasingly defining the gold standard. Contributing momentum and defining direction, the foundation will actively support research that places neurodivergent experience at the forefront.

Trifecta #3: Creation of neurofriendly spaces.

At inception: an online portal to connect and support; as we develop the project: a physical space for us to be and become.

Redefining home.

Autinaut Hub is an upcoming digital and physical neurofriendly space. The digital: an online portal connecting all Autinauts, with access to support and governance for the movement: the hyperconnected heart of the community. The physical: think PDA-friendly co-living; communal and multi-pod modular personal spaces, open to all Autinauts; a place of refuge and reinvisioning, to step outside the confines of societal norms and explore the possibilities of a self-defined nurturing environment.

Beautifully built blockchain.

Society at large is yet to awake to the implications of blockchain technology. Yet whilst they sleep, the systems and processes that enable the modern world to function are being quietly blockchain enabled. The Autinaut project is defined from the start as blockchain first: a beacon of how the technology may be deployed to enable and enforce open egalitarian principles. In collaboration with nascent stealth startup Quintillionth for technology deployment, direct democracy forms a core principle of the movement, with community governance by DAO (Decentralised Autonomous Organisation). Blockchain is uniquely suited to empowering the disenfranchised in an immutable mode: every creative neurodivergent should be excited by the possibilities. Full disclosure: Quintillionth is me; blockchain is one of my special interests. I am a blockchain developer and impassioned evangelist for the tech: part of the Autinaut project will be making this technology simple for the community. One exciting teaser to start: blockchain enables a zero-trust ecosystem. What does that mean? Quite simply, nobody ever need trust on faith alone that people will do what they say they will: trust is baked into the technology itself. That’s an immensely powerful idea for such a community as ours, forced to exist in a world where trust is continually and incomprehnsibly broken. Blockchain solves that. Excited? Yeah, me too.

Going it alone, together.

We’re doing this without external assistance: what could be a more powerful statement to define us? Here’s how:

Working together, we’ll craft a package I can create with an obvious value in excess of $100; initial thoughts focus on full lifetime community membership with access to DAO governance and the Autinaut Hub system. This provides a zero-trust, zero-risk proposition. All funds go directly to the foundation.

Once the community reaches 10K, the $100 packages will be made available. Do the math. 10K * $100 = $1,000,000. $1M is foundation starting money.

Telling the tale. Spreading the word.

We’re building a better mode of being; not only for our community, but as an example of what can be done by the disenfranchised: a model and toolset for others to follow. That’s a story that needs to be told far and wide. In collaboration with all Autinauts, I’m documenting the process by writing a book with the working title: “Autinaut: How to human.” to get the word out.
